The Trade Unions  are independent public, non-political institutions to voluntarily unite professions, occupations, vaccations and fields  on the basis of the principle of individual membership at the place of work, and at the republican (nationwide) level to protect the labor, social, economic rights and legitimate interests of workers working in the production or non-production sectors, as well as pensioners and students acting on the basis of charters and the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On trade unions".

Azerbaijan's trade unions carry out consistent and purposeful activities in the field of adapting the working conditions of our citizens involved in the labor process to advanced international standards, solving social problems and ensuring labor rights. Also, regulation of labor relations, strengthening of social protection of workers, establishment of labor relations between enterprise managers and workers on a normal course and elimination of possible conflicts, as well as protection of legal interests of workers are among the duties of trade unions.

Also, trade unions conduct collective negotiations in the enterprises where they operate, conclude collective contracts and agreements, and monitor their implementation. In addition, the institution takes care of the health of union members, organizes sanatorium, resort treatment, leisure and recreation, supervises the creation of labor protection, healthy and safe working conditions.
