In 1991, at the meeting of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic chaired by great leader Heydar Aliyev on December 16, the decision to celebrate December 31 as a holiday of solidarity of World Azerbaijanis, and the law on this issue came into force on December 25, was one of the significant days in our history. At the first Congress of World Azerbaijanis held in Baku in November 2001, 9-10, the national leader said: “For every person, his nationality is a source of pride. I have always been proud and today I am proud that I am an Azerbaijani! “His sayings have become a symbol of national pride for every Azerbaijani.
The celebration of the day of solidarity is already a necessity and a moral need for Azerbaijanis all over the world. The holiday plays an important role in establishing contacts with more than 70 million Azerbaijanis living in more than 50 countries around the world, creating unity and solidarity among them.
Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, who successfully continues the policy of Heydar Aliyev with his wise and far-sighted policy and tireless activity, the process of national unity and organization of Azerbaijanis is getting stronger.
It is no coincidence that the solidarity of World Azerbaijanis has taken a special importance in bringing the realities of Azerbaijan to the international arena, making our historic victory more confident.
