The extraordinary VII congress of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan has been held

On August 26, the Extraordinary VII Congress of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan (AHIK) was held.

The chairman of AHIK, Mr. Sattar Mohbaliyev, a member of the VI convocation of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly), welcomed the participants and declared the congress open. Then, the National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played, and a one-minute silence was observed in honor of our martyrs.

In accordance with the regulations, the members of the Congress's Editorial and Audit Commissions, as well as the Secretariat, were elected, and the agenda was approved. An organizational issue was included in the congress's agenda.

In his speech at the event, AHIK Chairman Mr. Sattar Mohbaliyev spoke about the work done, the achievements gained, and the real steps taken for the protection of the rights of trade unions, as well as the labor, social, and economic rights, and legal interests of their members. He also presented key statistics and discussed the international reputation of Azerbaijan's trade unions.

Later, Mr. Sattar Mohbaliyev, considering the volume of his duties as a Member of Parliament, announced his resignation from the position of AHIK Chairman. His resignation was put to a vote and accepted by the congress participants.

A vote was held for the election of the Chairman of AHIK. The candidacy of Mr. Sahib Ali oglu Mammadov, the representative of the Republic Committee of the Azerbaijan State Agencies and Public Service Workers' Union, was proposed, and he was unanimously elected as the Chairman of AHIK through an open vote.

Mr. Sahib Mammadov thanked the congress participants for their trust, emphasizing that he would work diligently towards the development of Azerbaijan's trade unions, the protection of their members' labor rights, the creation of proper working conditions, the organization of their rest, and the protection of their health. He also noted that in the future, transparency, equality, and inclusivity would be ensured in the Confederation's activities, best practices would be applied, relations with trade unions of foreign countries would be expanded, and real steps would be taken to further enhance the reputation of trade unions in Azerbaijan.
