
A meeting was held at the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHİK) with a delegation led by Director General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Jilber Hungbo.
Chairman of the Confederation Sahib Mammadov spoke about mutually beneficial relations between the trade unions of Azerbaijan and the ILO, noting that 59 conventions of the organization on workers ' rights have been ratified in our country.
It was noted that within the framework of the cooperation of the Confederation and the ILO, conferences, seminars and round tables on various topics related to labor rights were organized in Azerbaijan, programs were prepared and projects were implemented.
The Chairman of the Confederation, highlighting the favorable business environment in Azerbaijan and the conditions created for more effective protection of labor rights, spoke about the continuous and systematic measures being taken in the country to ensure labor protection, align the working conditions of union members with advanced international standards, safeguard their health, and organize their treatment and rest.
The ILO representatives were also informed about the reforms and innovations implemented in the trade unions system of Azerbaijan, the projects “AHİK volunteers”, “decent labor ambassadors” and "AHİK Plus", as well as the Tourism Information Center “Kurort”.
The chairman of the Confederation stressed that a number of projects are planned with the ILO on labor rights, climate change and gender issues.
ILO Director General Jilber Hungbo expressed his satisfaction with being in Azerbaijan, spoke about the effective cooperation of AHİK with the organization headed by him, the importance of the implemented projects, and highly appreciated the level of relations.
Jilber Hungbo noted the importance of ILO decisions and recommendations for the effective functioning of trade unions and noted that the Confederation is always sensitive to these issues.
The sides exchanged views on the development directions of cooperation, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
After the meeting, ILO Director General Jilber Hungbo and members of the delegation got acquainted with the innovations applied in the process of issuing trips at the “Kurort” Tourism Information Center, as well as with the newly created labor protection and Legal Assistance Center.
