
A scholarship has been awarded to 100 students who have actively participated in education and the student trade union movement by the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHİK) and the Republican Committee of the Free Trade Union of Education Workers of Azerbaijan (ATİAHİRK). The event, held at the Azerbaijan Academy of Labor and Social Relations (AƏSMA), was attended by the leaders of the Confederation and ATİAHİRK, rectors of several prestigious higher education institutions, chairpersons of student trade union committees, as well as the teaching and student staff of AƏSMA.
The ceremony began with a minute of silence to honor the memory of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of our homeland, followed by the playing of the National Anthem.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Confederation, Sahib Mammadov, discussed the youth policy being implemented in our country. He highlighted the work done under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev to ensure that young people grow up with a patriotic spirit, realize their potential, and develop as highly qualified specialists. He also emphasized the contributions of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to the development of Azerbaijani youth, noting that under the initiative of First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, successful projects have been implemented in fields such as science, education, culture, healthcare, and sports.
It was pointed out that the Confederation actively supports the state's youth policy, enhancing their social protection, safeguarding their labor rights, and developing their potential through various projects and initiatives. One such project, the "Named Scholarship," significantly contributes to increasing students' interest in science and education and developing their potential.
Yusif Agayev, the acting rector of the Azerbaijan Academy of Labor and Social Relations, remarked that the development of human capital is a priority issue for the country. He noted that the current era, characterized by scientific progress and the development of advanced technologies, presents new challenges and objectives, and that such projects provide motivation for young people.
Elchin Babayev, the rector of Baku State University, emphasized that Azerbaijan has become an economically and politically powerful country in the region. He spoke about the activities of the university he leads and highlighted the importance of initiatives like the "Named Scholarship" in revealing the potential of student youth. He also made suggestions for expanding cooperation with the AHİK.
In his speech, Adalet Muradov, the rector of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics, discussed the attention and care given to education in our country, as well as the efforts to ensure access to higher education. He underscored the importance of the project in increasing young people's interest in science and education.
At the end of the event, the students who had received the "Named Scholarship" were presented with gifts. The scholarship recipients spoke about how the trust placed in them encouraged them to study harder and further increased their interest in science and education.
It should be noted that the ATİAHİRK 's "Named Scholarship" project has been implemented since 1995. It aims to support the development of students who study with excellent or good grades at various higher education institutions across the country and are actively involved in the student trade union movement.
