On July 26, 1994 the foundation of the modern youth policy of Azerbaijan was laid at the initiative of the national leader Heydar Aliyev with the establishment of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The main goal of youth policy is to create conditions for the physical, mental and spiritual development of young people, to promote the realization of their capabilities and skills, to solve social and economic problems and ensure the protection of their rights.
Azerbaijan is a youth country. Today, young people actively participate in all spheres of life, work for the the country's progress. It is for this reason that youth policy is always in the spotlight of the state. Thus, to provide state care for youth, more than 20 laws, state programs, strategies and other regulatory documents were adopted; the Presidential Prize for Youth was established.
2007 was declared the "Year of Youth; " the Azerbaijan Youth Fund was created; a network of specialists of the social service "House of Youth" was created; mechanisms were set for state support of their initiatives.
Within its jurisdiction, the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation actively supports the state youth policy of the wide representation of young people in trade unions creates ample opportunities for strengthening their social protection, protecting labor rights and developing their potential.
Within the framework of its jurisdiction the Azerbaijan Tade Unions Confederation at different times adopted a number of relevant decisions and documents aimed at protecting the rights and meeting the moral needs of young people, and ensured their implementation.
Azerbaijan trade unions, considering young people as the main driving force of the country's future development, have taken the necessary steps to support the solution of their socio-economic problems, create conditions for active participation in trade union structures, involvement in various types of activities, as well as develop their potential in becoming specialists. Currently, a number of steps are planned to improve and improve the efficiency of work with young people. To strengthen coordination in this area, in December 2024, a department for work with youth, social projects and gender issues was created in the Office of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation.
In the field of work with youth, activities are aimed at the following areas:
• participate in education in the spirit of patriotism on the basis of national and moral values;
• support for labor, social and economic rights, as well as support social significant initiatives and to direct their innovative potential to the development of society;
• redirect the knowledge and skills of young people, as well as the potential to resolve the country's socio-economic development;
• organize the students in trade unions and call membership campaigns and events in this direction;
• increase efforts to engage in entrepreneurial activities of young people; implement projects in this direction;
• support the activities of the Student Trade Union Committees; take initiatives to support their programs and projects;
• carry out the measures to improve the system of privileges, improving the employment, improving their working conditions, improving their working conditions, strengthening the level of living conditions, students and students, young workers and specialists;
• support the integration of groups of young people in the labor market;
• strengthen the social protection of young people, to take the necessary measures to the effective organization of leisure times, the formation of their healthy lifestyle culture;
• undertake an appropriate work to improve your training and security system;
• Implement preventive measures to prevent the prevention of drug addicts and other negative cases among young people;
• prepare the proposals for the establishment of measures to be taken to reveal talented young people, to establish awards to encourage them;
• encourage the involvement of young people into the Volunteer Movement, as well as to achieve a wide application in subordinate institutions and member organizations;
• ensure the organization of employers' organization's initiatives in the field of corporate social responsibility, organization of "Best Social Project of the Year", " Young Profesional of the Year" and "Best Trade Union for Youth for Youth";
• organize the festival, competition, seminar, conference, round table, training and other events in the interests of young people, etc.
