The Trade Union of Natural Resources and Ecology Workers was established on September 26, 2002. The Republican Trade Union Committee includes 160 organizations uniting 11,632 union members.

The supreme body of the Trade Union is the Congress. The last Congress was held on October 16, 2007. In the period between Congresses, the work of the Republican Committee is managed by the Assembly, which is held at least once a year. To implement operational management, an Executive Committee is elected from among the members of the Assembly.

The Republican Committee of the Trade Union operates in accordance with the Republican Law “On Trade Unions”, the Charters of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, and the Trade Union of Natural Resources and Ecology Workers. The Committee ensures the protection of labor, social, economic rights and legal interests of employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and its subordinate departments, enterprises and other employees working in the field of ecology. In order to carry out its work, the Committee regularly concludes sectoral Collective Agreements with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. The last sectoral Collective Agreement covering 2010-2012 was signed on August 27, 2010.

The Trade Union is a member of the International Federation of Construction and Forestry Workers' Trade Unions, and the Federation of Forestry Workers' Trade Unions of the CIS Countries.
