The Trade Union of Municipal Workers of Azerbaijan was established in 2001. It includes employees working in local self-government bodies, organizations belonging to their production, service and ownership. The committee includes 421 trade unions, including 62 City and district committee organizations, and has 1,834 members.

The Second Congress of Trade Union of Municipal Workers of Azerbaijan was held in 2007, on September 28. At the Congress, the name of the Trade Union of Municipal servants of Azerbaijan was changed and renamed The Trade Union of Municipal Workers of Azerbaijan.
Trade Union Of Municipal Workers Of Azerbaijan is a member of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation and attaches great importance to the establishment of international relations. Close relations have been established with the trade union “Belediye-İş” operating in the field of municipalities in the Republic of Turkey and experience the exchange is underway.
