The history of the Azerbaijan Railway Workers' Trade Union begins with the establishment of the Konka (horse-drawn railway) workers' and employees' trade union in Baku on October 17, 1905. This date is also the first date of the establishment of Azerbaijani trade unions. Since 2001, it has been called the Republican Committee of the Independent Trade Union of Azerbaijan Railway Workers. It unites workers working in the railway sector. The union includes 86 trade union organizations, including 7 united trade union committees, and has 15,755 members. The organization operates the "Lokomativ" recreation center in the Nabran settlement of the Xaçmaz region. It is a member of the International Confederation of Railway Workers' Trade Unions and the World Federation of Transport Workers' Trade Unions.
