The trade unions of the Baku Metro were created in 1967 and entered the service of the Republican Committee of the Independent Trade Union of the Azerbaijan Railway. On May 8, 2003, the metro workers union was created.
In accordance with the requirements of the Youth Policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on December 28, 2005, a Youth Organization was established as part of theTrade Union.
On September 14, 2014, the Metro Workers Union and the United Workers Union of Azertunelmetrotikinti JSC merged into the Metro Workers Union.
The research institute has 24 first trade union committees with 5,220 members.
The Supreme body is the Conference. The last conference took place in 2021. During the interfaith period, the work of the Union is led by the Assembly, which is convened at least once a year. An Executive Committee is elected to deal with current issues. The EC meeting is held at least once every 2 months.
The Union concludes a collective agreement with the management of the metro every 2 years for 2 years, each year discusses the state of fulfillment of the terms of the collective agreement.
