The establishment of a trade union in Nakhchivan on December 4, 1921, played an important role in the social and political life of the region. During that period, the organization united 3 regional trade union committees, 27 city and district committees, 3 united trade union committees, and up to 400 first trade union committees.
The Federation includes 188 primary, 49 district and city committees, 2 united trade union organizations and has 22,704 members.
The Congress is the supreme governing body of the Federation. The Congress is convened every five years. The time and agenda of the Congress are determined by the Assembly of the Federation. In the period between congresses, the decision-making body of the Federation is the Assembly, and the executive body is the Executive Committee.
The Federation is a member of the International Trade Union Confederation (UNI), the International Trade Union of Food and Tobacco Industry, Hotel and Hospitality Workers (IUF), and the International Union of Commercial Workers on a confederal basis.
