Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Transport, Communications and High Technology Workers

 

On February 22, 1968, the IV Plenum of the Republican Committee of Communication and Motor Transport Workers and Highway Workers adopted a decision to establish two Independent Sectoral Trade Union Republican Committees: "Communication Workers" and "Motor Transport Workers and Highway Workers".

The union operated under the name of the Republican Committee of the Independent Trade Union of Communication Workers of Azerbaijan, and on January 24, 2020, the Union's Charter was amended and renamed the Azerbaijan Transport, Communication and High Technology Workers' Trade Union.

The Azerbaijan Transport, Communications and High Technology Workers' Trade Union is an association of trade union organizations established by workplace, profession, region, and sector to protect the labor, social, and economic rights and legitimate interests of workers working in the fields of communications, transport, and high technology.

The Azerbaijan Transport, Communications and High Technology Workers' Trade Union operates in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, generally accepted principles and norms of international law, international treaties ratified by the Republic of Azerbaijan, the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan and its subjects, and the current Charter.

The Committee unites 27 trade union organizations, including 1 united trade union, and has 17537 members. The “Nabran Communications Recreation Base” operates in the Khachmaz district of the Union. The Azerbaijan Transport, Communications and High Technology Workers Trade Union is an integral part of the trade union movement and a member of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation.

Currently, the Union unites around itself 168 primary organizations consisting of 5 trade union branches and 2 joint trade union committees, which are trade union members and work in the sector of transport, communications and high technologies, with up to 20 thousand members.

The “Nabran Communications Worker Recreation Base” operates in the Nabran settlement of the Khachmaz district of the Union.

The bodies of the Trade Union are as follows:

1. Supreme governing body - Conference

2. Elected collegial body - Republican Committee

3. Executive collegial body - Presidium

4. Sole executive body - Chairman of the Trade Union

5. Control and inspection body - Inspection Commission

The Republican Committee of the Transport, Communications, and High Technology Workers' Trade Union, as a member of UNI Global and the International Trade Union of Communications Workers, regularly participates in the events of these organizations.
