The Union of Electricians was created in 1917 in Baku.
In 1931, the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Workers of Power Plants and Electric Power Industry of Azerbaijan was created.
On January 30, 2003, at the XVI Conference of the Trade Union of Workers of Power Plants and Electric Power Industry of Azerbaijan, the Charter was adopted in a new version and the organization was called the "Trade Union of Workers of the Electric Power and Electrical Industry of Azerbaijan."
The trade union represents and protects the labor, socio-economic rights and interests of union members working in the electric power and electrical industries.
In accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Convention and the recommendations of the International Labor Organization, in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Trade Union," as well as in compliance with the norms and provisions provided for by other legislative acts related to the activities of trade unions, the Republic of Azerbaijan is guided by the Charter registered with the Ministry of Justice.
The supreme body of the trade union of workers of the electric power and electrical industry of Azerbaijan is the conference. The conference defines the main activities of the sectoral trade union.
Being the first 40 organization of the field trade union, it has more than 10 thousand members.
The Republican Committee of the Field Trade Union concludes a Collective Agreement (Tariff) with Azerenerji Open Joint Stock Company. Based on the Collective Agreement in this Area (Tariff) at enterprises and organizations.
The trade union is a member of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, the Global Union of Workers of the Processing Industry IndustriAll and the International Union of Trade Unions "Electroprofsoyuz."
