The Union of Printers was founded in November 1905 as the "Society of Workers of Weaving, Printing and Lithography" and since 1953 continues its activities as the Trade Union of Cultural Workers. Since December 25, 1992 - Independent Trade Union of Cultural Workers of Azerbaijan. The Congress held in 09.10.2012, called for the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Cultural Employees.
Since 01.01.2011 the Azerbaijan Independent Cultural Employees Trade Union is an independent organization with 53,238 members.
The union unites 64 city and district, 402 trade union committees and 314 trade union organizers.
42,051 members of the Union, i.e. 79.8%, are women.
The youth population is 19,988 which is 37.55%.
he Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as the Closed Joint-Stock Company of Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting, which is in the service of the Republican Committee, entered into separate field agreements in 2009 for a period of 3 (three) years.
Since 1992 the Republican Committee of the Azerbaijan Independent Cultural Employees Trade Union is a member to the General Trade Unions Confederation, since 2001 the European Public Services Union (EPSU), and since 2009.the European Organization of Public Services (EPSU).
Meanwhile, the Republican Committee of the Azerbaijan Independent Cultural Employess Trade Unions through the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation takes an active part in the work of the International Trade Unions Confederatio (ITUC) and the General Confederation of Trade Unions (VKP), and strengthens cooperation relations with these organizations.
