The Azerbaijan Trade Union of Maritime Transport Workers is the legal successor of the Azerbaijan Trade Union of Water Transport Workers, registered with the Ministry of Justice in 12.03.1993.
The Independent Trade Union of Sea Transport Workers of Azerbaijan unites around itself the trade union organizations of the Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company and the Baku International Commercial Sea Port.
The union unites 7634 members and 17 primary trade union organizations.

A collective agreement has been concluded between the employer and the trade union committee in the departments and enterprises of shipping included in the field service of the Republican Committee of the Independent Trade Union of Sea Transport Workers, as well as in the Baku International Sea Trade Port. In addition, a Field (Tariff) Agreement was signed between the Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company and the Republican Committee of the Independent Trade Union of Sea Transport Workers.
The Republican Committee is a member of the International Federation of Carriers and the International Confederation of Trade Unions of Water Transport Workers since 1992.
