In 1923, a part of aviation workers voluntarily united in the Local Transport Union in Baku in the “Zakavia” aviator society. In 1934, the trade union of drivers and aviation workers was established, and its first conference was held in July 1937.
The Aviation Workers' Union, uniting 10,338 trade union members, includes the organizations of 17 first trade unions.
The supreme body of the Aviation Workers' Union is the conference. The conference is held every 5 years. During the inter-conference period, the supreme body is the Plenum, and its executive body between the plenums is the Presidium.
The Republican Committee of the Aviation Workers' Trade Union is a member of the International Aviation Workers' Trade Union Confederation.
