The Azerbaijan Academy of Labor and Social Relations (AALSR) has a rich history. The educational institution, which began operating in various structures under the name of "Courses Base" in 1952, has operated under the names of "Trade Unions Course", "Zona Educational-Methodological Center" and others. During this period, the Baku Educational and Consulting Station of the Moscow Higher School of the Trade Union Movement was also established. In 1997, it became a branch of the “Moscow Academy of Labor and Social Relations”. Since 1999, it has been operating as a higher education institution with a license from the Ministries of Education of Russia and Azerbaijan, and finally, in 2006, it continued its activities independently under the name of the Azerbaijan Academy of Labor and Social Relations.
