Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation was established on 5-6 February, 1993 at the Congress of Azerbaijan Trade Unions. Trade Union is a voluntary union protecting socio-economical rights and interests of its members which incorporates the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan and 26 Sectorial trade unions. Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation covers 16135 trade union organizations and approximately 1121946 members.

The law of Azerbaijan Republic on “Trade Union» was adapted on 24 February, 1994

Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation is a member of International Trade Unions Confederation since 2000.  Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation  together with government and entrepreneurs associations are represented  in International Labor Organization  since 1992.The first Congress was held in 1998, the second in 2003, the third in 2008 ,the fourth in 2013 and the fifth in 2018, the sixth in extraordinary congress 2023, the seventh in extraordinary congress 2024.

Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation is a member of International Trade Unions Confederation since 17 October, 2000 and takes part in all seminars held by ITUC. A representative of Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation is represented in Executive Committee of ITUC.

Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation is a member of General Trade Unions Confederation since 26 May, 2004.  “Metal-İş” Trade Union Federation, Azerbaijan Republic Committee of Electroenergetics and Electrotechnical Industry Employees Trade Union, Trade Union Republican Committee of Oil and Gas Industry Workers,  “İnşaat-İş” Trade Union are members of International Organization “Industry ALL” , Trade Union Republican Committee of Marine Workers is a member of International Federation of Trasport,  Free Trade Union Republican Committee of  Local Industry and Communal Workers,  Trade Union Republican Committee of Defense Industry Workers, Trade Union Republican Committee of Health Workers are members of PSI.

Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation has mutual and friendly relations with Turkey, France, Belgium, England, Germany, Egypt, Japan, Bulgaria, NIS countries, Chine and trade union centers of 70 countries.
