Relations with Turkish trade unions are expanding

Fuad Mammadov, chairman of the United Trade Union Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, was on a business trip to Ankara, Turkey. The purpose of the visit, which was carried out at the invitation of the Agricultural and Forestry Trade Union of Turkey, was to further expand cooperation between the trade unions operating in the field of agriculture of both countries and to discuss opportunities. During the visit, a number of meetings were held with leading representatives of trade unions operating in the agricultural sector of Turkey.

At the meeting with “Türk Tarım Orman Sen” (Turkey Agriculture and Forestry Trade Union), cooperation opportunities between the organizations were discussed and an agreement on joint activities was reached.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of “Turkish Agriculture Orman Sen” trade union organizations, a gift was presented to the chairman of the organization, Ahmet Demirchi, on behalf of the United Trade Union Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture, and an agreement was reached on signing a cooperation protocol between the organizations in the near future.

The next meeting was with Nihad Pakdil, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey. During the meeting, they spoke with satisfaction about the comprehensive development of Turkey-Azerbaijan relations in recent times. In particular, the extensive activity of Turkish companies in the field of agriculture in the lands freed from occupation was noted. Apart from that, opinions were exchanged on the issue of labor rights of workers in the field, activities of trade unions, provision of economic and social interests of workers, labor protection. Brother Professor Nihat Pakdil expressed his satisfaction with the visit of the representatives of the country’s trade union.

During the visit, a meeting was held with Huseyn Öztürk, the chairman of “Turkey Agriculture and Forestry Workers’ Unions”, a member organization of “Memur-Sen”, which is the largest trade union confederation in Turkey in terms of the number of members. At the meeting, the concerns and problems of field workers working in the public sector and the work done by the trade union were discussed. An agreement was reached on the conclusion of a cooperation agreement with “Toch Bir-sen”, which includes 45 thousand union members. It was noted that such visits will open opportunities for further expansion of relations between the trade unions of the two countries.
