Protection and strengthening of workers’ health, organization of their treatment is considered one of the main functions of Azerbaijan trade unions. For this purpose, 8 sanatoriums and one treatment boarding house of the Confederation of Azerbaijan Trade Unions (ATUC) operate. 6 sanatoriums work year-round, and 2 seasonally. Every year, thousands of members of trade unions are provided with referrals, all conditions are created for their normal treatment.
The chairman of AHIK, MP of the Milli Majlis, Sattar Mohbaliyev, regularly visits the sanatorium-resort establishments belonging to the trade unions, familiarizes himself with the conditions on the spot, talks with the vacationers, and is interested in how their treatment and rest are organized.
On August 9, the chairman of AHIK visited “Shikh”, “Absheron”, “Guneshli”, “Bilgah” sanatoriums, as well as newly built “Sheki” and “Khazar” sanatoriums, which are under renovation.
So, first came to the sanatorium” Shikh” S.Mohbaliyev got acquainted with the situation here. He toured the territory of the sanatorium, inspected the medical point, treatment and living rooms, canteen and kitchen, talked with patients and inquired about the treatment conditions. The chairman also studied the opinions and suggestions of patients. It was reported that the number of people coming here for treatment from foreign countries is increasing. Expressing gratitude for the created conditions, people said they were satisfied with the treatment. S.Mohbaliyev got acquainted with the work done in the currently renovated building of the sanatorium. It was noted that internally displaced persons from Eastern Zangazur and Karabakh settled here. After they were provided with new apartments by our state, the building was evacuated and repair work began. Currently, the building is undergoing restoration and reconstruction work in accordance with modern requirements and will be put into operation in the near future.
It should be noted that the “Shikh” sanatorium, which has a positive effect on the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system, has 100 beds and single and double rooms with all conditions.
Patients are examined upon arrival here and remain under medical supervision for the next 18 days. Thermal hydrosulfide water baths containing a small amount of iodine and bromine are organized for patients. In addition, the sanatorium’s services include naphthalene therapy, paraffin therapy and natural mud therapy. The treatment base here consists of a clinical-diagnostic laboratory, functional diagnostics, therapeutic physical education, massage and medical offices of various profiles. In the sanatorium, balneological treatment methods such as underwater shower-massage, underwater stretching (hydrotraction) in specially equipped pools, and treatment of lower limb joints using a bicycle trainer are applied. There is a comfortable restaurant that offers various dishes of national and European cuisines. A diet menu is also provided in the nutrition mode.

“Miras” recreation center, which has been renovated in recent years, has preserved the ancient architectural traditions. The rooms here are fully equipped with air conditioners, TVs, refrigerators, safes and other household appliances. Swimming pool, massage room, foot baths, sauna, as well as indoor and outdoor exercise machines are available to visitors.
The chairman of AHIK visited the “Guneshli” neurological sanatorium, located on the coast of the Absheron peninsula – in Mardakan settlement, and was interested in the situation there.
It was reported that “Guneshli” sanatorium is very convenient for people suffering from nervous system diseases. Here, fully comfortable housing units, a tennis court and a large park are at the service of visitors. The sanatorium has 303 beds in two five-story buildings, 49 luxury double rooms, 95 double one-room rooms and 15 single rooms. The sanatorium has a comfortable dining room that offers various dishes of national and European cuisine. A diet menu is also provided in the nutrition mode. Leisure time of vacationers is organized in a very interesting way. In addition to walks along the park, sea baths and rest on the beach, there is a library, a cafe, a teahouse and a disco bar at the service of visitors. Various household services are also provided in the sanatorium. The facilities of the balneological clinic include various showers, baths, clinical-diagnostic and biochemical laboratories, various types of inhalations, as well as massage and therapeutic physical training. The sanatorium offers iodine-bromine baths, naphthalene therapy, paraffin therapy and natural mud therapy. Sea baths and sleep under the open sky are among the most effective treatments for the recovery and strengthening of the nervous system. The chairman spoke with those treated here and inquired about their health. They agreed to the treatment, nutrition, and other existing conditions.
S.Mohbaliyev, who came to the “Bilgah” cardiology sanatorium located on the Absheron peninsula, got acquainted with the conditions created here, visited the corps rooms and departments, and was interested in the health of the patients.
“Bilgah” cardiology sanatorium is located 40 km from Baku, on the northern coast of the Absheron peninsula. The sanatorium has a comfortable treatment facility equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment equipment. There are functional diagnostics, therapeutic gymnastics, physiotherapy, electrosleep therapy, therapeutic massage, oxygen therapy, dentistry and gynecology offices, balneological clinic, as well as clinical-diagnostic and biochemical laboratories. Architecturally, sanatorium buildings that adhere to national architectural traditions fully meet the latest requirements. Guests are offered single and double rooms with all comforts. The dishes of Azerbaijani national cuisine, distinguished by their diversity and richness, are presented in a comfortable and neatly organized medical nutrition hall. In their free time, vacationers walk in the park, take sea baths and relax on the beach. There is also a billiard room, football, volleyball and tennis courts, as well as a video room, a library, a cafe and other establishments at the service of guests. Apart from these, there is a post office, telegraph office, shop, and various household services in the sanatorium area.
The chairman of the Confederation visited the newly built “Sheki” sanatorium for people suffering from joint diseases in Buzovna settlement of the capital’s Khazar region, reviewed the work done there, toured the area and gave a number of important instructions and recommendations. It was reported that the construction works are being rapidly continued here according to the project and will be put into use in the near future.
The chairman also visited “Khazar” sanatorium, where reconstruction and restoration works are being carried out in Buzovna settlement. It was noted that after the internally displaced persons settled here were transferred to new apartments by our state, major repair works were started in the sanatorium.
In an interview with journalists, the chairman of AHIK said that one of the main tasks of trade unions is meaningful and efficient organization of their members’ rest and health protection: “In general, health protection of our citizens has always been the focus of our state. If you remember, when the pandemic started, our head of state Mr. Ilham Aliyev declared that the main issue for us is the health of our people. Trade unions also consider this as the basic principle of their activity, and every year they give leave to thousands of their members to restore their health. In general, more than one hundred thousand of our members are provided with trips to go to recreation and health centers. Every year, the material and technical base of our sanatoriums is strengthened, equipped with modern medical equipment, repairs are carried out and adapted to the requirements of the new era. All conditions for treatment are created here, guests are provided with professional services. We do our best to ensure the health and relaxation of our members. During the conversation with the patients, we saw that our members from the families of war veterans, veterans and martyrs are also treated here. They are our pride, it is our sacred duty to pay attention to them. The President of the country always recommends taking care of the families of martyrs, veterans, and veterans. Azerbaijani trade unions are also sensitive to this issue.”
It should be noted that the chairman of ATUC, Sattar Mohbaliyev, in meetings with those treated in sanatoriums, the patients said that they were satisfied with the attention and care provided to them, and noted that the treatment and rest were organized at a high level. The chairman of ATUC also listened to the proposals of the vacationers. He gave recommendations and tasks to the managers of the sanatorium to raise the services to a higher level and solve any problems that arise as soon as possible.
