An event dedicated to the 530th anniversary of the birth of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Muhammad Fuzuli was held at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
Organized by Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Presidium and supported by Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences of Free Trade Union, a member organization of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation (AHIK), the event on the theme “Fuzuli’s art world ” took place in the Concert Hall of the Opera Studio at the Baku Music Academy.
Deputies of the Milli Majlis, members of the Presidium of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, employees of the Academy, scientific institutions and organizations of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences , representatives of various institutions, public representatives and members of the media took part in the event.
At first, the participants got acquainted with the manuscripts of the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli on Fuzuli’s heritage and the exhibition of books dedicated to the poet’s life and work by Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences employees.
Academician Isa Habibbayli, President of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences , informed that Azerbaijan is the motherland of Muhammad Fuzuli. He noted that research conducted by Azerbaijani scientists shows that Fuzuli is from the Karabakh region, the bayat tribe.
Saying that many of the poet’s poems are popular among the public as examples of Azerbaijani folk literature, the president of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences emphasized that Fuzuli is a genius wordsmith who is completely integrated with the people he belongs to. As much as he represents Azerbaijani literature, he also represents Azerbaijani spirituality, Azerbaijani thinking, the spiritual world and power of Azerbaijani people.
At the end, there was a preview of the opera “Leyli and Majnun” performed by the collective of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.
