Cooperation issues discussed between Moroccan and Azerbaijani trade unions

Sahib Mammadov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation (ATUC), met with Enam Mayara, Secretary General of the General Union of Moroccan Workers (UGTM), who was visiting our country as part of the COP29 event.

Noting the importance of the COP29 event hosted by our country, the Chairman of the Confederation expressed his pleasure to see the guests at this event.

Speaking about the relations between Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Morocco, Sahib Mammadov noted that Morocco was one of the first states to recognize the independence of our country, and that relations between the two countries are developing in political, economic, cultural and other areas.

According to him, the Confederation and its member organizations give priority to foreign relations in their activities, and important steps are being taken to expand relations with regional and international trade unions, as well as relevant bodies of countries friendly to Azerbaijan. Evaluating today’s meeting as the next step in strengthening relations between the trade unions of Azerbaijan and Morocco, Sahib Mammadov drew attention to the importance of exchanging views and experiences and joint cooperation in the protection of labour rights and promotion of social justice.

Speaking about the history and activities of our country’s trade unions, Sahib Mammadov emphasized that we build mutual labour and socio-economic relations on the principles of social partnership, give priority to real dialogue with the government and employers, and strive to contribute to the optimization of the labour relations system, the development and improvement of civil social partnership. The Chairman of the Confederation added to his thoughts that social dialogue is the most successful way to solve complex issues and ensure social stability.

He also brought to the attention of the guest the work done to protect labour rights, create decent working conditions in our country, organize medical treatment and recreation for members, and state support for trade unions in this regard.

Sahib Mammadov expressed his confidence that this meeting will lead to the expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijani and Moroccan trade unions and open up new opportunities for solidarity in achieving common goals.

Enam Mayara, Secretary General of the General Union of Moroccan Workers, expressed his satisfaction with being in Azerbaijan and participating in the important COP29 hosted by our country.

He spoke about the functions, structure, and projects implemented by Moroccan trade unions, and shared his experience in labour protection and protection of workers’ rights.

He emphasized that relations between Moroccan and Azerbaijani trade unions can also contribute to relations between our countries.

Enam Mayara also noted that the experience of Azerbaijani trade unions, which have reorganized their activities based on modern challenges, is interesting for them.
