AHIK Chairman Sahib Mammadov met with ITUC Deputy General Secretary Eric Manzi

Chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation (AHIK) Sahib Mammadov met with Eric Manzi, Deputy Secretary General of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), who is on a visit to our country.

Speaking about the activities of Azerbaijan trade unions at the meeting, the chairman of AHIK spoke about the work done in the field of protection of labor rights, creation of decent working conditions and labor protection in our country, implemented projects, and noted the tasks ahead.

The chairman of the confederation also noted the importance of the declarations, decisions, as well as assignments and recommendations of the ITUC for the trade unions of Azerbaijan and the satisfactory level of cooperation between the two institutions.

At the same time, he said that the participation of AHIK representatives in all events held by ITUC and the initiatives put forward by them are met with interest and supported.

Sahib Mammadov said that further expansion of relations with ITUC is among the priorities of AHIK and emphasized that active work will be carried out in this direction.

Thanking for the meeting, the Deputy Secretary-General of the ITUC Eric Manzi said that climate change is one of the biggest challenges in the world, and he said that the international conference on “Climate change and just transition: the role and activities of trade unions” held in Baku will play an important role in reducing its negative effects on workers.

The guest spoke about the activities of the ITUC and its regional institutions, as well as member organizations, and informed about the upcoming main program and action plan. Eric Manzi also appreciated the level of relations between AHIK and ITUC and said that the organization chaired by you is actively represented in international trade unions. At the same time, he positively evaluated the activities of AHIK in terms of equality in the labor market, climate changes, transition to a fair economy and other relevant areas.

At the meeting, opinions were also exchanged on issues of mutual interest.
