Within the framework of the “Human Rights month” announced by the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a meeting was held on “The Essence of Human Rights and freedoms” organized by The Trade Union of Agricultural Workers of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Opening the event, Anar Taghiyev, head of the Organization Department of Agricultural Workers Trade Union said that the first strategic state document in the field of human rights in our country, “state program on protection of Human Rights”, was approved by the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev on June 1998, 18 and was defined as one of the main directions of Taking this into account, by the Order of the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated June 2007, 18, June 18 is annually celebrated as human rights day in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Anar Tagiyev added that as a result of the purposeful policy pursued by the head of state, the legal State Building and the rule of law were ensured. The adopted laws and decisions guarantee reliable protection of human rights and freedoms.
At the event, purposeful work carried out at the state level to protect human rights and legitimate interests was touched upon. The activities of trade unions related to the protection of labor rights were discussed. The participants of the meeting were also informed about the extensive activities carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture in the field of protection and promotion of human rights. It was emphasized that the Ministry of Agriculture pays special attention to the organization and provision of healthy and safe working conditions for employees and farmers. Currently, most of the workforce working in the country is engaged in the production and processing of agricultural products. In this regard, regular monitoring is organized in order to organize healthy and safe working conditions for workers in farms and production areas. Educational trainings are regularly held to ensure the protection of the rights of workers working in the agrarian sector.
At the event, the work done on standards related to occupational safety, maintenance of Health and working capacity of employees, provision of employees with decent working conditions were also touched upon. It was emphasized that the events organized within the framework of the “Human Rights Month” play an important role in promoting human rights in our country, as well as in protecting the rights of various groups of the population and solving their problems.
At the end, an exchange of views was held on the topic, questions of interest to the participants of the event were answered.
