On May 25-26, the 15th Congress of the Trade Union of workers of hotels, restaurants and recreation centers of Turkey (TOLEYIS) was held in Istanbul.
Chairman of Turk-is Ergun Atalay, chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, MP Sattar Mohbaliyev, as well as chairmen and representatives of Trade Unions of a number of countries of Central Asia, Europe and Africa attended the Congress.
In his speech, the chairman of the TOLEYIS Union, Cemail Bakyndi, drew attention to the severe earthquake in Turkey on February 2023, the scale of the natural disaster, Its Consequences, and thanked the neighboring, friendly countries that were next to Turkey in these difficult times and extended a helping hand. Then, the heads of Trade Unions of those countries, including ATUC chairman Sattar Mohbaliyev, were awarded awards for support, participation and fraternal position.
Then Cemail gave information about the history of the organization represented by Baku and the areas of its activity. He noted that the TOLEYIS Union, which has a half-century history in the Turkish trade union movement, has passed a unique path of development.
He said that the trade union movement is a place of trust and hope. You will succeed if you sincerely believe in it.
The chairman of the TOLEYIS Union also spoke about the duties of the global trade union, joint activities and ways of struggle.
At the event, the chairman of ATUC Sattar Mohbaliyev was also promised. He spoke about the unique friendly relations between the republics of Azerbaijan and Turkey, dynamically developing cooperation in all areas, support of fraternal countries to each other, as well as relations of our countries at the level of trade unions, the importance of mutual visits and signed documents. The chairman of ATUC stressed that TOLEYIS is one of the most advanced trade unions of Turkey, the importance of the work and measures carried out both in the country and in the international arena, adequately defends the interests of its members, and occupies a worthy place in the World Trade Unions movement. Touching upon the healthy cooperation between TOLEYIS and ATUC, Sattar Mohbaliyev spoke about the positive results and the importance of the exchange of experience. The chairman of ATUC also wished success to the work of the Congress and wished great success to the future activities of the organization.
Then organizational issues were considered at the Congress, the Council of TOLEYIS was established and its composition was determined.
On the second day of the Congress, May 26, elections were held, and Cemail Bakyndi was re – elected chairman of TOLEYIS with high confidence of the participants.
