Our wise people, who created heroic Chronicles with their patriotism and belligerence against the invaders, were at the forefront of the struggle against human dangers. While taking the threat of fascism over the head of the world, the Azerbaijani people put forward a firm position, the mobilization declared in 1941 became a nationwide movement in our republic. The number of volunteers alone was in the thousands, along with men, women left for the front.
During the war, more than 11 thousand Azerbaijani women joined the mobilization. In the Second World War, Azerbaijanis were famous for their bravery, bravery and courage on all fronts in which they participated, and with their high fighting spirit they had a big share in the victory over fascism.
More than 600 thousand sons and daughters of our militant people were active participants in the war and became our symbol of zeal. The 77th, 223rd, 271st, 396th, 402nd and 416th National Rifle divisions formed from Azerbaijanis have carved the name of our people among the victorious peoples of the Second World War, starting from the Caucasus to Berlin.
Speaking about the victory over fascism, it is worth noting the importance of Baku oil. Having withstood all the difficulties faced by our oil workers, they selflessly supplied fuel to the front and our industry. Four of every five aircraft, five tanks, four of every five cars were driving on Baku gasoline. In 1941-1945, more than 70 percent of the oil spent by the Soviet Union, 80 percent of gasoline and 90 percent of motor oils went from Azerbaijan. In short, Azerbaijan made a significant contribution to the victory in the Second World War with all its capabilities. The anniversary of the historical victory over fascism is celebrated in our country every year. On the Victory Day, the head of state Mr. Ilham Aliyev pays tribute to the memory of Hazi Aslanov, the brave sons of our people who took part in the battles, meets with war veterans, talks with them and conveys Holiday Congratulations. Our president also issues orders to further strengthen their social protection.
We congratulate our victorious people on Victory Day and ask the Almighty for mercy to the heroic sons of the Motherland who gave their lives in the bloody struggle with fascism.
