To the participants of the meeting on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan
Dear meeting participants!
I sincerely greet and congratulate you on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan. The Confederation, established in 1993, united a large number of trade union organizations in its ranks and has become one of the important institutions of civil society in our country today. During the past period, the institution tried to preserve and develop the best traditions of the trade union movement, and did practical work to increase the efficiency of social partnership. Azerbaijan Confederation of Trade Unions plays an important role in organizing the protection of labor and socio-economic rights and legal interests of more than one million union members, regulating labor relations and protecting social stability. During the 44-day Patriotic War, as well as during the COVID-19 pandemic, which covered the whole world, the Confederation supported the common cause of our state.
The realities of modern development and today’s challenges make it necessary to carry out fundamental changes in the activity of trade unions in Azerbaijan, to reorganize their work by benefiting from world experience. At this stage, one of the most important issues is ensuring and not restricting the rights of trade unions in accordance with the national legislation and international legal norms. At the same time, the rapid development of the country’s economy requires Azerbaijan’s trade unions to take decisive steps in protecting the labor rights of workers and solving their social problems in newly created workplaces.
State bodies and employers’ unions should strengthen social partnership with the Confederation in this area and ensure the implementation of the General Collective Agreement signed with it.

I believe that the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, together with state bodies and employers’ associations, will continue to make efforts in the direction of protecting the labor and socio-economic rights of employees, improving the social welfare of citizens and harmonious development of society. Once again, I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart and wish you new successes and achievements in your work.
