“The situation created by Armenia in the region for many years is known to the whole world. Let’s not go too far, in the last 30 years, all the ugliness, aggression, occupation policy, evicting local residents from their native lands, genocide, terrorism and other such actions have been in front of the international community. They made such lies about the territorial claims against the neighbouring states that even they themselves started to believe these lies. What have we and the whole world not seen from them in these 30 years?! What kind of hypocrisy didn’t they do to justify their dirty deeds? Azerbaijan called them for peace for 30 years, but they still did not understand. They thought that Azerbaijan would come to terms with the occupation. Of course, this was not possible. The head of our state, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, crossed out all their ugly dreams.”
These views were expressed by Sattar Mohbaliyev, chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), member of the Milli Majlis, commenting on the protest action carried out by the representatives of the Azerbaijani civil society and environmental activists on the Shusha-Lachin road.
According to him, having won a brilliant victory over Armenia, Azerbaijan has already ensured its territorial integrity: “For this reason, Azerbaijan must fully control its territory and prevent illegal actions that occur. This is the sovereign right of our state regulated by international laws. It is known that the illegal exploitation of natural resources continues in the territories of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily stationed, which is why the environmental situation there has become extremely difficult. The exploitation of all natural resources should be carried out on the basis of Azerbaijani legislation. Obstructing the access of representatives of Azerbaijan state institutions and experts to that area for the purpose of monitoring is completely illegal. That’s why the protest action of Azerbaijani civil society representatives and ecologists on the Shusha-Lachin road is a direct manifestation of legitimate dissatisfaction.”
“It is also known that the Lachin-Khankendi road is used by Armenia for military purposes, mines are carried, and our stolen and looted natural resources are transported. This is unacceptable and should be unequivocally avoided. The Armenian side is still sticking to its tradition and trying to mislead the international community with the lies they concocted, using their traitorous qualities. Allegedly, the Azerbaijanis blocked the road to Lachin, there is a humanitarian disaster in the region, and ethnic cleansing is being carried out. All these claims are slanderous and far from the truth. Only representatives of Azerbaijani civil society prevent the transportation of our stolen natural resources. As for the closure of the Lachin road, it was closed by the Russian peacekeeping contingent in front of everyone,” said S. Mohbaliyev.
“The government of Armenia makes big comments and pronounces statements about the happenings. They still do not understand that they have no right to interfere in the internal affairs of any state. Such authority has not been given to any state, including Armenia. The Armenian government should go and deal with the problems of its citizens who are living in a crisis and in a difficult social situation, not with our internal issues,” – the MP said.
