On December 12, a commemoration ceremony of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the modern independent state of Azerbaijan, the National Leader of our people, was held at the Confederation of Azerbaijan Trade Unions (ATUC).
The event was attended by the management and staff of ATUC, chairmen and responsible employees of member organizations.
A video about the political activity of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev was shown to the participants of the event.
Javanshir Alkhasov, the deputy chairman of ATUC, who spoke at the event, talked about the place and role of Heydar Aliyev in the history of Azerbaijan, the unparalleled work he did in the life of our republic in the 70s of the last century, and his nationally spirited activities.
He said that when Heydar Aliyev began to lead Azerbaijan in 1969, Azerbaijan was in the last place among the republics of the Soviet Union according to all indicators. During his leadership of the country, industry, including light industry and agriculture, experienced the most brilliant period of development.
J.Alkhasov noted that the people of Azerbaijan rightly consider Heydar Aliyev as the founder of state independence: “The rapid development of Azerbaijan in 1993-2003 is the foundation of today’s realities. Thanks to the works done in those years, Azerbaijan entered the path of development, demonstrated its principled position in the international world on all issues related to internal politics, and gained great respect in the world. The reforms started in the country played a decisive role for our state.
According to him, the multifaceted development strategy implemented by the Great Leader is confidently continued by his worthy successor, President Ilham Aliyev: “It is the result of Mr. Ilham Aliyev’s visionary policy that today Azerbaijan is a leader in the region and one of the distinguished countries in the world. The victorious Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev, who liberated our lands under the occupation of Armenia in just 44 days with the “iron fist” operation, put an end to the two-century conflict, 30-year war, and the longing for the homeland of hundreds of thousands of internally displaced persons. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, under the leadership of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, lives and promotes the legacy of the Great Leader with dignity.”
Other speakers talked about the work done by the Great Leader in the way of state building, the successive socio-economic reforms, the strengthening of our independence, the steps taken for the development of our statehood.
