The Confederation of Azerbaijan Trade Unions (ATUC) will hold a round table with the participation of trade unions of foreign countries called “On the potential of resistance and employment and decent work for the purpose of ensuring peace” in the city of our cultural capital, Shusha.
On October 19, representatives of trade unions from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Portugal, Serbia, Albania, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Georgia and Moldova, who came to our country to participate in the round table, met with Sattar Mohbaliyev, chairman of ATUC, member of Milli Majlis.
Giving detailed information about our country to the guests, S. Mohbaliyev talked about the activities of the Azerbaijani trade unions, the projects implemented, the work they do in the pandemic situation, the steps taken in the direction of labor safety and health protection of workers.
He said that in order to protect the rights of workers, the trade unions in Azerbaijan successfully continue their work in a continuous and planned manner, using modern methods and means in the field of adapting working conditions to the requirements and standards of the time, solving social problems and ensuring labor rights in all enterprises operating in our country. The work carried out by trade unions in the direction of regulating labor relations, protecting labor rights of workers, organizing free time, establishing labor relations between enterprise managers and workers on a normal course, and eliminating possible contradictions is giving its positive results.
The Chairman of ATUC emphasized that when the COVID-19 pandemic began, our state tried to reduce its possible effects in all areas by taking preventive measures: “It is as a result of this that Azerbaijan became an exemplary country that came out of the pandemic with the least losses. 190 manats were paid to unemployed citizens and this covered 200,000 people. For this purpose, 70 million manats have been allocated by our government. The mentioned indicators were increased 3 times later. Also, 90,000 paid public jobs were opened by our state, and the tuition fees of 17,000 low-income students were paid at the expense of the state. In general, the government of Azerbaijan has spent 3.5 billion manats on the fight against the pandemic.
Azerbaijani trade unions, as always, responded adequately to all the calls of the state during the pandemic, did important work in the direction of eliminating the consequences of COVID-19, managed to save many jobs, and provided assistance to low-income families. In general, more than 20 million manats were spent by the Azerbaijani trade unions to fight against the pandemic.
S.Mohbaliyev also talked about the occupation policy of Armenia, which lasted for many years, acts of vandalism and terrorist acts, as a result of which more than one million people lived the life of forcibly displaced people, and even the military provocations used to disrupt the negotiations during the occupation.
He noted that on September 27, 2020, the Azerbaijani Army, which started counter-offensive operations to respond to the next military provocation of the aggressor state, under the leadership of the victorious Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev, successfully completed the 30-year occupation in just 44 days, destroyed the invading army, and destroyed separatism. gave the answer it deserved, as well as restored the principles of international law that had been violated for many years. Talking about the improvement and construction works carried out in Eastern Zangezur and Karabakh, the chairman of the Confederation emphasized that Azerbaijan did all this at the expense of its own financial resources without any external help. Speaking about the activities of Azerbaijani trade unions during the war, S. Mohbaliyev said that more than 10 million funds were spent by AHIK and its member organizations during the Patriotic War and the subsequent period, including the children of 346 martyrs were taken into custody by the trade unions and financial support was provided to them every month.
Touching on the round table to be held in Shusha, the chairman of ATUC noted that it is extremely important to ensure employment and create decent working conditions at the highest level in every country. In this regard, S. Mohbaliyev, who considers the topic of the event important, expressed his confidence that the discussions and conclusions reached will be effective and wished success to the work of the event.
Informing the guests about the natural beauty and grandeur of Shusha, the chairman added with regret that Armenia’s vandalism did not bypass this city, and you will see it with your own eyes during your visit. According to him, the glory of Shusha, the cultural capital of our country, has covered the whole world today: “I believe that you will enjoy the beauty of our dear Shusha and it will create good impressions on you.”

It was noted that employment, labor safety, decent working conditions, as well as the fight against forced labor are of a global nature, that is why the round table to be held in Shusha is important for all of us.
