December 12 marks the 21st anniversary of the death of the Great Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev. Heydar Aliyev is an outstanding statesman, a great political figure, a phenomenal person who has become a source of pride for every Azerbaijani with his life and activity. He devoted all his meaningful and glorious life to the protection, strengthening and progress of the Azerbaijani statehood. The life path of our great leader is an exemplary school that embodies high human and moral qualities. The years of his leadership in our country are imprinted in our history as a period of renaissance, national awakening and, finally, the construction of an independent state.
Heydar Aliyev’s leadership in Azerbaijan in 1969-1982 laid the foundation for a new stage in our history.
Heydar Aliyev is an irreplaceable person, a great Azerbaijani who saved the statehood of Azerbaijan from the threat of collapse. His second coming to power in the Republic in June 1993 changed the course of history and saved the Azerbaijani people from great hardships. The Great Leader removed all obstacles to our country and led it to the path of irreversible development. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces Mr. Ilham Aliyev realized Heydar Aliyev’s ideas with a magnificent victory in the Patriotic War. Every success achieved by Azerbaijan in both domestic and foreign policy is a triumph of the ideas entrusted by The Great Leader.
It should be noted that Heydar Aliyev always supported the development and free activity of trade unions and provided state care to the organization. In 1994, on the personal initiative and under the supervision of the Great Leader, The Law on “Trade Unions” was adopted in Azerbaijan for the first time in the former post-Soviet space. This was a sign of Heydar Aliyev’s value to civil society developing in a democratic direction. Thus, the activities of the organization expanded, the number of members began to increase, opportunities for free and independent activities opened up before them.
Along with this law, the adoption of numerous other normative-legal acts aimed at the social protection of workers, the ratification of the main conventions of the International Labor Organization by the Milli Majlis in Azerbaijan created favorable conditions for the normal functioning of trade unions.
Thus, both in the Milli Majlis and in the Cabinet of Ministers, his proposals on important issues related to the solution of socio-economic problems of the population began to occupy one of the main places. The rights of trade unions were recognized in the preparation of legislative acts on labor, social and economic issues, and the trade unions of Azerbaijan became an integral part of the international trade union movement.
We commemorate the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev with infinite respect and esteem.
