On December 3, the 35th meeting of the General Council of the International Trade Union Confederation began its work in Brazil.

Mrs. Akiko Gono, the president of the International Trade Union Confederation, introduced the agenda of the Council to the members. Then the report of the General Secretary of the organization Luc Triangle was heard, the practices during the last period was brought to the attention of the members of the Council.
At the meeting, the issues on the agenda, including the report of the 34th meeting of the General Council, the work plan for 2025, meeting days of the General Council and the Executive Bureau for the next year were approved. Also, the strategic priorities of the International Labor Organization and ITUC, the practices since 2022 on climate change and just transition, peace and security issues were discussed and relevant decisions were made.
In the General Council, the request of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan regarding membership in the International Trade Union Confederation was considered, During the discussions, the representatives of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation expressed their support to their Uzbek colleagues.
At the same time, the chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation, Sahib Mammadov, was confirmed as the vice-president of the International Trade Union Confederation.
At the event, negotiations were held about the 7th Congress of ITUC to be held in Austria in November 2027. It was reported that the General Secretary and other senior officials will be elected at the Congress, members of the General Council will be determined, future tasks will be planned and a statement will be adopted. At the same time, changes in the charter and other documents of the institution will be discussed.
It should be noted that the meeting of the General Council of the International Trade Union Confederation ends on December 5.
