The Deputy Director of the International Labor Organization (ILO) for Europe and Central Asia, Beate Andrees, who is visiting our country to participate in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), visited Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan (AHIK).
The First Deputy chairman of the AHIK, Ilyas Aliyev, welcomed the guests and said that he was glad to see them in Azerbaijan. Speaking about the relations between the Azerbaijani trade unions and the International Labour Organization, Ilyas Aliyev noted that the AHIK, which is currently re-building its activities in accordance with modern requirements, has taken important steps towards protecting the labour rights of workers, strengthening their social protection, organizing recreation and leisure.
Recalling that the foundation of our relations was laid in the early years of the country’s independence, the First Deputy Chairman of the AHIK also noted that Azerbaijan actively participates in international conventions. He stressed that attaching great importance to the deepening of international relations, AHIK and its member organizations attach special importance to the expansion of relations with international trade unions. He expressed confidence that the relations between the AHIK and the ILO will develop and deepen.
