Today is Victory Day in Azerbaijan. Under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army has achieved incredible success in the victory march that began on September 27, 2020, to prevent Armenia’s successive provocations and liberate our occupied lands. On October 4, 2020, Jabrayil, on the 17th Fuzuli, on the 20th Zangilan, on the 25th Gubadli and on November 8 Shusha were liberated from occupation.
After clearing Shusha from the Armenian invaders, Armenia was forced to sign the act of capitulation. The defeated country raised the “white flag”, Armenia pledged to liberate Aghdam on November 20, Kelbajar on November 25 and Lachin on December 1, 2020.
According to the decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev, November 8, the day of the liberation of the city of Shusha from occupation, is celebrated as Victory Day in Azerbaijan. As a continuation of the Karabakh victory, on September 19-20, 2023, as a result of one-day local anti-terrorist measures carried out by the Azerbaijani Army, our country fully restored both its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Today, our tricolor State Flag proudly flutters in every corner of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur – in Jabrayil, Fizuli, Zangilan, Gubadli, Kelbajar, Aghdam, Shusha, Hadrut, Lachin, Askaran, Khojavend, Aghdar, Khojaly and Khankendi.
With great enthusiasm, solemnity and endless pride, the Azerbaijani people celebrate their historic victory – November 8 – Victory Day.
