On October 21-22, a regional review meeting “Beijing+30” was held in Geneva, Switzerland, jointly organized by the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the UN agency for Gender Equality and empowerment of Women (UN Women).
The event was attended by 56 representatives from 150 member states, civil society, youth, academic circles and experts from the UN Economic Commission for the European region. Roya Garayeva, head of the sector of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), made a speech on the prospects of the regional and global trade union movement on behalf of the Pan European Regional Council.
Roya Garayeva, who participated in the panel “Accelerating the increase of women’s economic opportunities: the path to peaceful, fair and inclusive societies”, answered the moderator’s questions.
It should be noted that the main trends in gender equality, renewed commitments to the full implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Action Platform, ways to accelerate women’s empowerment and lead to peaceful, fair and inclusive societies, as well as women’s leadership and participation in decision-making were in the spotlight during the discussions.
