On June 5, the 5th Congress of the Federation of “Service-Work” Trade Unions was held.
First, the President of the Federation Ilyas Aliyev and congress representatives visited the graves of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honor and the graves of our brave sons who died for the integrity of our Motherland in the Alley of Martyrs.
Ilyas Aliyev, the president of the Federation of Trade Unions ” Service-Work “, announced the congress. The National Anthem was played. The dear memory of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence. In accordance with the regulations, the members of the Presidium of the congress, the composition of the Editorial, Mandate and Accounting commissions and the members of the Secretariat were selected and approved daily.
Ilyas Aliyev brought the issues on the agenda to the attention of the representatives. The report of the work performed by the Federation of ” Khidmet Ish ” Trade Unions in 2017-2024, the report of the Control-Inspection Commission, the main directions, and the organizational issues have been approved. I. Aliyev noted that in the last 5 years, the Federation of “Service-Work” Trade Unions has carried out certain works related to the protection of labor, social economic rights and legal interests of its members in accordance with the requirements of the union’s charter and other legal documents.
Khayyam Nasibov, vice-president of the Federation, delivered the report. He talked about the comprehensive development strategy of our country under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, ensuring the territorial integrity of our country with unparalleled victories, the Great Return program, and evolutionary processes in the labor, social and economic spheres. At the same time, he spoke about ensuring the protection of labor rights of workers in the country and the role of trade unions here, and informed about the work done by the federation during the reporting period. He said that we have made an effort to successfully fulfill our mission in all directions included in our scope of activity: “We have paid special attention to the specialization of the young union members who are the future of our country and our organization, to use their potential more effectively, and to the issues of moral maturity.
In 2018-2023 events and projects carried out by the AHİK and the ILO regarding youth and women workers, including “The role of trade unions in the formation of youth employment policy”, “Youth employment, collective negotiations and dispute resolution”, “Discrimination and The role of the ILO in the fight against vulnerable labor” and other topics were actively participated in by the young members of the Federation. During the past years, 43 seminars and meetings on gender issues were held under the organization of the Federation. 630 women and young people were involved in these events. By the way, let me mention that in the last five years, the Federation has held 45 seminars, 13 round tables, and 15-23 seminars at the school of field activists every year under the line of “StreetNet International” International Alliance.
Achievements have also been made in the field of ensuring safe and healthy working conditions, labor and environmental protection, prevention of accidents in production, and compliance with rules and norms on safety equipment in the enterprises and organizations in our service. In 2018-2023, the Federation received 44 applications regarding the violation of the labor rights of employees. 33 of them were related to reinstatement. The complaint made in the application was resolved positively. 16 enterprises and organizations included in our service won the title of the winner in the competition held by AHIK under the title “The best enterprise (organization) of the year in creating healthy and safe working conditions”. This year, the employees of the Federation who have reached the jubilee age, veterans were awarded with the Order of Honor, monetary award and one person with the medal “For service to trade unions”.
In the end, Ilyas Aliyev noted that from now on, the Federation of “Service-Work” Trade Unions, its member organizations will confidently fulfill the tasks they have set before them, and will fulfill their functions as defenders of labor rights. Our dream and practice is that rapid development and progress is reflected in the life of every citizen of the country and every trade union member. The implementation of the steps taken by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev in the direction of strengthening the social protection of the country’s population and the strengthening of trade unions, signed decrees and orders, tasks and recommendations is a great support for us in achieving this goal. We believe that AHIK, together with its member organizations, will achieve new successes in the future.

The organizational issue was considered. Ilyas Aliyev was re-elected as the president of the Federation of “Service-Work” Trade Unions, Jamaladdin Ismayilov and Khayyam Nasibov as vice-presidents.
