“It is recognized by the international community that Azerbaijan is one of the countries at the center of the world’s energy policy. Azerbaijan’s energy strategy is so perfectly developed and implemented that its success covers the region as well as the world. If once we were dependent on some countries in this field, today it is the complete opposite: Azerbaijan itself has been exporting energy to its partners for many years. The energy policy authored by the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued by Mr. President Ilham Aliyev strengthened our economy and increased the well-being of our citizens many times. Energy projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Supsa, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars, “Southern Gas Corridor” have made Azerbaijan one of the countries that play a key role in the energy supply of the region, including Europe. This is recognized at the highest levels in the international world. As we know, the confirmed gas reserves of our country are 2.6 trillion, and the predicted reserves are 3 trillion cubic meters. This allows Azerbaijan to continue as a reliable energy supplier for many years to come.”
Sattar Mohbaliyev, chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHIK), member of the Milli Majlis, expressed these views to the mass media.
According to him, the success and attractiveness of Azerbaijan’s energy policy and the projects implemented in this field are, of course, closely related to its reliability: acted responsibly, fulfilled his duties with dignity, did not make any changes in the documents, and there was no delay in the export. In short, all partners are extremely satisfied with cooperation with Azerbaijan. Therefore, the new steps and initiatives taken by our country in this direction are gaining great support, and the number of those who want to join them is constantly increasing.”
“One of the important components of Azerbaijan’s energy policy is the annual Baku Energy Week. This platform creates conditions for the organizations involved in the energy industry in the world, their leaders and representatives to come together and discuss energy security, energy production and other important issues. The experience of many years shows that the Baku Energy Week is very useful in terms of new collaborations, exchange of experience, and determination of future perspectives. As every year, the interest in the event is high this time too – 300 companies from 37 countries gathered here. Also, the participation of the head of state, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, in the official opening ceremony of the 29th International Caspian Oil and Gas – “Caspian Oil & Gas” and the 12th Caspian International Energy and Green Energy – “Caspian Power” exhibitions held as part of the Baku Energy Week, is valuable on the subject. His sharing of opinions and valuable recommendations not only increase the importance of the event, but also show his high status”, the chairman of AHIK noted. “An important aspect of Baku Energy Week is that it gives ample space to the development of the field of “green energy”, sharing of experiences, and promotion of its necessity. The creation of a clean environment and “green energy” has been identified as a priority in Azerbaijan, and the work done in this direction in a short period of time is also obvious. As we know, climate change has caused severe consequences and is global in nature. Azerbaijan behaves reliably and responsibly in this matter, which all states should approach sensitively. Thus, our country has set a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 35 percent by 2030.
During his speech, President Ilham Aliyev informed the participants about the work done by our country on renewable energy. According to calculations, the renewable energy capacity of our country is estimated at 27,000 MW, including 3,000 MW of wind energy, 23,000 MW of solar energy, bioenergy potential of 380 MW, and the potential of mountain rivers at 520 MW.
Of course, this is a high potential and allows Azerbaijan to further expand its work in this direction. By the way, the laying of the foundation of Neftchala, Bilasuvar solar power plants and Absheron-Garadagh Wind Power Plant by President Ilham Aliyev and the minister of industry and advanced technologies of the United Arab Emirates Sultan Ahmed Al-Jabir is a direct continuation of the work done in this direction,” the MP said.
