“The relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus, based on solid foundations, were established on the principles of friendship and reliable partnership. Mutually beneficial cooperation in almost all areas, including political, economic, scientific, educational, cultural and other areas, has developed in an ever-rising direction. Mutual understanding, high-level dialogue and sincere friendship have also raised the relations between our countries to the level of strategic partnership. Indeed, today Azerbaijan and Belarus are friendly countries that trust each other and provide mutual support in the international arena. President Ilham Aliyev and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko attach special importance to the development of relations between the two countries and have played an important role in the rise of relations to this stage. I would also like to note the sincere friendship between the two leaders, which laid the foundation for the development of our relations.”

Chairman of Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), MP Sattar Mohbaliyev said in his statement to mass media.

According to him, a large number of documents regulating the existing cooperation between the two countries were signed: “the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Belarus, which carries out fruitful work to strengthen our relations, should be especially noted. There has always been positive dynamics in trade and economic relations. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, canned fruits and berries, fresh fruits and vegetables, walnuts, hazelnuts, fruit juices, polymer raw materials and other goods are exported from our country to Belarus. Agricultural machinery and equipment, forest industry products, Transformers, electrical wires, medicines, agricultural products are imported from Belarus to Azerbaijan. Continuous meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission, useful exchange of views and experiences contribute to the expansion of cooperation”.

Expressing confidence that the current state visit of the leader of friendly and brotherly Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to our country will open new pages in cooperation, Sattar Mohbaliyev noted that the discussions held at the highest level within the framework of the visit, important documents signed on many new areas are very important in terms of determining the prospects for future relations. He also noted that the signing of the relevant memoranda on the fraternization of the cities of Baku-Minsk, Ganja-Gomel, as well as Gabala-Grodno will lead to the establishment of direct relations between these cities and the development of interregional cooperation between our countries.

“During the meeting of the heads of State in an expanded format, Mr. Alexander Lukashenko’s remembrance of our national leader Heydar Aliyev, his assessment of the 44-day Patriotic War as a war of freedom, his appreciation of our victory and the revival of Karabakh, indeed, made us very happy. In general, the long-standing Karabakh conflict has helped us a lot in identifying our friends. At the time of the conflict, from the very beginning, Belarus, personally Mr. Alexander Lukashenko, took a fair position and unequivocally supported the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The fact that a friendly country offers its assistance to the construction work carried out in our liberated territories is a direct continuation of this fair policy,” the MP said.

The Chairman of the ATUC also added that the visit of the President of Belarus to the territories freed from occupation, as well as his personal witnessing of the work carried out in the direction of the revival of Eastern Zangazur and Karabakh, will give him clearer ideas about how sad the events that happened before the war were and the importance of the new realities formed after the Victory.
