“The domestic and foreign policy priorities of Azerbaijan, determined directly by our President Mr. Ilham Aliyev, have elevated our country to the ranks of powerful states on a global scale and recognized it with unique development models. In particular, the positive experience and successful indicators of the past years once again confirm that the state of Azerbaijan has masterfully performed all the tasks set before it and reached its goals.
Most importantly, Azerbaijan has taken its place on the world map as a country that does not depend on anyone, both politically and economically, pursues a completely independent policy, and has earned the status of a reliable partner. Of course, the power of the state is also measured by its strong economy. We can say with certainty that Azerbaijan’s economy has taken such a steady path of development especially in the last 20 years that it has adequately weathered all expected and unexpected crises in the world. I think it is enough to give an example of what happened in the world during the pandemic, so that everything is clear. Likewise, we went through a heavy war and liberated our occupied lands.
Today, Azerbaijan is building new cities and villages on a large area, and is carrying out construction works unprecedented in history. The most important thing is that our state implements this without receiving any external support, but only at the expense of its own internal capabilities. All these are part of the factors that show the economic power of Azerbaijan.
Sattar Mohbaliyev, chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHIK), member of the Milli Majlis, expressed these views to the mass media.
According to him, the effective socio-economic development strategy of our country made it possible to ensure the comprehensive progress of our regions: “It can be said with certainty that the programs of our state adopted in relation to the regions, as well as decrees issued, signed orders, and implemented projects related to socio-economic development it has led to the opening of new enterprises, the creation of jobs, the increase of the employment of our citizens, and the improvement of their living standards.
It is no coincidence that the level of poverty in Azerbaijan has decreased to 5 percent, and this is an extremely high achievement. At the same time, the development potential of rural areas has been greatly strengthened, the production and processing of agricultural products, as well as productivity has increased, small farms are growing and turning into large farms. In addition, the steadily developing economy in the regions has become more diversified, its competitiveness has increased, and the tourism opportunities of our regions have expanded. In general, sustainable and balanced socio-economic development of the regions has been ensured.”
“As we know, today the world is facing a great challenge such as acute water shortage due to global climate changes. Currently, our state is actively fighting this global problem, doing important work in the direction of eliminating the water shortage and fully satisfying the demand for it. Thus, the irrigation quality of water channels is improved, the operating conditions of water reservoirs are improved, progressive irrigation methods are applied, etc.
As a continuation of the work done, the head of state, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, signed an order on the reconstruction of the Shirvan irrigation canal a few days ago and laid the foundation of the canal yesterday – April 16. This is an important project, it will greatly support the improvement of water supply in our country and the elimination of water losses. Also, the potential of the canal will allow 116,000 hectares of arable land to be cultivated. This means an important contribution to the sustainable development of the agricultural sector in our country,” said the MP of the Milli Majlis.
