A roundtable on “Future of Trade Unions” was held with the support of the
International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Organization of the Azerbaijan
Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC).
The event was attended by First Deputy Chairman of ATUC Ilyas Aliyev, head of
sector of the ILO Bureau for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Sergeyus Glovascas,
representatives of the Confederation and member organizations.
Speaking at the opening speech, Ilyas Aliyev spoke about the growing power of
our country, its economic development, sustainable and successful socio-economic
reforms, as well as the work done to increase employment, create new jobs and
improve the living standards of the population.
I.Aliyev also spoke about the activities of the trade unions of Azerbaijan, the
projects implemented by them, the steps taken in recent years, especially in
connection with the protection of labor rights, innovations applied in the regulation
of Labor Relations, as well as the future plans of the institution prepared in
accordance with modern development realities and today's challenges.
At the round table, the head of the ILO sector, Sergeyus Glovascas, said: “trade
unions are at a crossroads. Trends and Development Prospects”, head of ATUC
Department Namig Huseynov “prospects of Trade Unions activity”, chairman of
the Republican Committee of Trade Union of Azerbaijan oil and gas industry
workers Jahangir Aliyev “Vision of the Future of Trade unions” were listened.
