On December 14, within the framework of a series of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary
of national leader Heydar Aliyev, the Chess Championship among customs officers ended.
65 customs employees took part in the championship, which was jointly organized by the State
Customs Committee, the Union of Customs Employees Trade Union and the Azerbaijan Chess
Federation.
First Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Major General of the Customs Service
Bahruz Guliyev said that the purpose of the championship organized within the framework of the
series of events held within the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" is to create conditions for the
development of individual skills and intellectual levels of customs employees.
International judges Nurali Mammadzade and Lutfiyar Rustamov managed the championship.
Abilkhan Isayev, an employee of the Academy of the State Customs Committee, took the first
place, Elvin Guliyev, an employee of the General Customs Department of Sea Transport and
Energy Resources, took the second place, and Ibrahim Safarli, an employee of the General
Customs Department of Air Transport, took the third place.
Vice-president of the Chess Federation of Azerbaijan Faig Hasanov, referees of the competition
Nurali Mammadzade and Lutfiyar Rustamov were presented a certificate of gratitude for mutual
cooperation.
At the end, the winners were awarded medals and certificates.
