On December 12-13-14, the 33rd meeting of the General Council of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) was held in Brussels (Belgium), a number of important issues of the ITC’s priority agenda for 2024 were discussed at the meeting.
It should be noted that the head of the business sector with international organizations Roya Garayeva represented the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation at this international forum of ITUC, of which we have been a member since 2001 and where our chairman is also the vice-president.
He informed the members of the General Council of the International Confederation of Trade Unions about the tasks facing the trade union movement in the world in 2023, attacks on trade unions in different countries and the main activities carried out by the secretary general of the ITUC, Luc Triangl.
Information was also provided on the main program and Action Plan facing the ITUC this year, including information campaigns organized by the ITUC and its regional organizations, as well as member organizations.
Luke Triangl also touched upon the provisions of the Melbourne Convention Declaration of the ITUC, the new social contract, as well as general topics, trade union activities related to climate change, the transition to a fair economy, the fight against inequality in the labor market, and the cooperation of the ITUC with various organizations at the global level.
