On November 7-8, the Women’s School of the Women’s Committee of the Pan-European Regional Council (PERC) was organized in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, on the topic “Vulnerable groups and gender pay, policies to eliminate other gaps”.
About 40 representatives from trade unions of more than 25 countries took part in the event.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the chairman of the Women’s Committee, the sector manager of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, Roya Garayeva spoke about the activity of the committee during the past period, and touched on the importance of the event and the relevance of the topics discussed. He said that this event organized in Moldova is a good opportunity for women trade union members of different countries who are facing various problems, including wars, natural crises, social dialogue, and we will exchange ideas and try to find joint solutions to the problems we face in trade union activities.
President of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova Igor Zubku noted in his speech that issues related to women and gender issues are always in the focus of attention of the organization headed by him, working with government bodies and other social partners to continue and develop cooperation on these issues.
Anton Leppik, executive secretary of PERC, who joined the event online, gave information about the preparations for the General Assembly scheduled to be held on December 5 and the topic of discussion.
Later, the event continued with Sessions and discussed issues such as obtaining equal pay for the same work, gender policies at national and international levels, the role of social dialogue to find solutions in times of instability, creating equal opportunities for women during online work and avoiding discrimination.
