On July 29, a joint meeting of trade unions of Turkish states was held in Shusha.

The leaders and representatives of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan (ATUC), the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan, the Confederation of Trade Union Organizations of Turkey (TURK-ISH), the Federation of Trade Unions of Kyrgyzstan and the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan took part in the event.

First, the dear memory of our sons and daughters who died for the integrity of our Motherland was commemorated with a minute of silence.

Welcoming the guests, ATUC chairman, MP Sattar Mohbaliyev said that holding our event in Shusha has its symbolic meaning, it is a sacred and dear place for our people. During the occupation, hundreds of historical and cultural monuments in the city were destroyed by acts of vandalism. You also saw traces of vandalism committed by Armenians when entering the liberated East Zangezur and Karabakh territories. At present, unprecedented construction works are underway in Karabakh and East Zangazur under the instructions and direct supervision of President Ilham Aliyev and first vice-president Mehriban Aliyeva. The “Great Return” Plan has already been launched with the return of residents of Zangilan and Lachin to their native lands after 30 years. In short, our beautiful Karabakh, including Shusha, the cultural capital of the Turkic world for 2023, is experiencing its renaissance.”

Speaking about the relations and cooperation relations between the Turkish states, the chairman of the ATUC noted the role of the Azerbaijan state in bringing the brotherly countries closer to each other. He said that the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States was established in the city of Nakhchivan in 2009: “The relations of Azerbaijan with Turkic-speaking countries are based on the Shusha Declaration signed with Turkey, the “Declaration on Strategic Partnership” signed with Kyrgyzstan, the “Declaration on Deepening Strategic Partnership and Expanding Comprehensive Cooperation” signed with Uzbekistan and It is developing with the “Declaration on the strengthening of strategic relations and the deepening of mutual relations of alliance” signed with Kazakhstan. The organization of the sister countries and their transformation into a single power was made possible thanks to the efforts and determination of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

According to him, Azerbaijan, which liberated Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur from Armenian occupation in the Patriotic War in 2020, has created a great opportunity to ensure geographical connection between it and the Turkic countries.

The ATUC chairman noted that relations between the trade unions of the Turkic states are developing on an ascending line: “the bilateral visits, the exchange of opinions and experiences, as well as the documents signed, the mutual support and solidarity shown have led to the deepening of our relations. Our colleagues from Turkish countries take an active part in almost all events held by international and regional trade union organizations in Azerbaijan. The Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan has agreements on cooperation with relevant bodies of many Turkic-speaking countries.”

Sattar Mohbaliyev also spoke about the importance of organizing trade unions of Turkish countries.

In his speech, TURK-ISH chairman Ergun Atalay said that he admired the beauty of Shusha and wished our martyrs mercy from the Almighty. He added that the meetings and mutual visits between the Turkic states, as well as the negotiations and signed documents allow brotherly countries to stand in solidarity and act from a single position against any crisis: “of course, the fact that we have the same language, religion and common culture are the fundamental principles of this union. The main tasks facing us are to further expand our relations at the level of Trade Unions of our countries, to unite our efforts in the field of protection of labor rights”.
