“Constantly developing in all fields, the power of Azerbaijan is more evident than its position in the system of international relations. If we look at the recent past, we will see that our country was either not affected by the economic crises that happened in a row in the world, or managed to get out of these crises with the least consequences. This once again reveals the sustainable development of Azerbaijan not only in economic, but also in other fields. It is enough to remember the pandemic period to understand this reality. Also, during that period, our country went through a difficult war that resulted in a brilliant Victory. But despite all this, Azerbaijan went only on the path of development, there was no stagnation or regression in any field.
Let’s review the processes taking place in the world at the moment and look at the role of Azerbaijan in the background of these processes: the war between Russia and Ukraine, which is in its most severe phase, has led to a severe energy crisis in the world, especially in Europe. European countries see a way out of this crisis in Azerbaijan, understand the importance of our country and prefer cooperation. We have achieved all these successes that I have mentioned thanks to the successful reforms implemented by our head of state Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the effective results of the huge projects implemented by him, as well as his wise management and diplomatic skills.”
Sattar Mohbaliyev, chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC), member of the Milli Majlis, expressed these views to the mass media. Sattar Mohbaliyev noted that the official visit of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva to Lithuania is another clear example of Azerbaijan’s expanding relations with European countries and the interest in our country: “I think that this visit is of special importance for both countries, it is important from the point of view of defining new perspectives of cooperation. By the way, I would like to inform you that Lithuania and Azerbaijan have historical relations. Also, Lithuania is among the first countries to recognize the independence of Azerbaijan. Bilateral relations have risen to the level of strategic partnership based on mutual interests, norms and principles of international law, and are developing further with visits, high-level meetings, and signed documents.
During this visit, Azerbaijan-Lithuania documents in the fields of environment, youth and law enforcement were signed, bilateral discussions were held, and a business forum was organized in Vilnius with the participation of the heads of state. We are sure that all this will have a significant impact on the further strengthening of relations between our countries.”
“Opinions expressed at the held business forum once again confirm that our country has a high economic potential and a favorable environment for foreign investors. In addition to the oil and gas sector, this opportunity exists in other areas as well. The business forum will create a great foundation for the deepening of relations and the strengthening of economic relations in this area. Let me note that according to statistics, last year the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to approximately 33 million US dollars. 20 commercial institutions of Lithuania operate in the fields of transport, construction, trade, and services in our country. In total, 36 million US dollars have been invested in Lithuania from Azerbaijan,” said the deputy of the Milli Majlis.
