On April 7, the opening ceremony of the spartakiade dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev was held in the sports complex of the Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation.
The sports competition organized by the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan (ATUC) is attended by the teams of enterprises and organizations that are part of the service areas of the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of State Departments and Public Service Employees.
First, the dear memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs was commemorated with a minute’s silence, and the National Anthem was played.
Speaking at the ceremony, ATUC chairman, MP Sattar Mohbaliyev spoke about the life and activities of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, his rescue mission, state building strategy, as well as his attention to education, sports and youth policy.
He said that the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, who came to the leadership of the country for the second time at the insistence of the people, determined the development strategy of sports: “In this direction, comprehensive measures were implemented in Azerbaijan and the foundation of the road to great success was laid in a short time. Thanks to the attention and care of President Ilham Aliyev, who successfully continued the political course of the Great Leader, the mass of sports in our country has been ensured, the development of physical education and sports has covered the entire territory of the country, and new athletes of world fame have been trained. Basically, after Mr. Ilham Aliyev was elected the president of the National Olympic Committee, this situation became widespread in our country, the Olympic movement, sports took an irreversible path of development.”
Sattar Mohbaliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan Trade Unions Sports Organizations Public Union, which has 11 sports societies and clubs, operates under ATUC: “Our athletes have good achievements. For example, 11 athletes from sports organizations of trade unions took part in the 1st European Games. The athletes of the trade union have achieved success in the world, Europe, various international and national competitions.
According to him, every mass sports spartakiade organized and implemented strengthens people’s interest in a healthy lifestyle and competitive competition, and opens the way for the mass flow of teenagers and young people to sports.
At the end of his speech, Sattar Mohbaliyev declared the spartakiade open and wished the athletes success.
