An event was held in the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan on March 31 – Genocide Day of Azerbaijanis.

The management and staff of ATUC, as well as chairmen and responsible employees of member organizations participated in the event.

First, the dear memory of the victims of the genocide committed against Azerbaijanis, as well as our martyrs who died for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, was commemorated with a minute of silence.

The Chairman of AHIK, MP of Milli Mejlis, Sattar Mohbaliyev spoke about the policy of genocide committed against Azerbaijanis by Armenian nationalists.

He said that the genocide committed by the Dashnak-Bolshevik armed groups against the Azerbaijani people in March-April 1918 was one of the bloodiest tragedies not only in the history of Azerbaijan, but in the history of mankind in general due to its ruthlessness and scale.

According to him, at that time tens of thousands of civilians were destroyed because of their ethnic and religious affiliation: “Also, settlements were destroyed, cultural monuments, mosques and other places of worship were razed to the ground. Mass killings and looting were committed not only in Baku, but also in Karabakh, Zangezur, Nakhchivan, Irevan, Goycha and other regions.”

The Chairman of ATUC emphasized that in 1998, Great Leader Heydar Aliyev signed the Decree “On the Genocide of Azerbaijanis” in order to commemorate all the genocide tragedies committed against the people of Azerbaijan: “Also, with that Decree, March 31 was declared “Day of the Genocide of Azerbaijanis”. At the same time, the “Genocide memorial complex” was created in Guba city by the order signed by the head of our state Mr. Ilham Aliyev in 2009. All these are extremely important steps in terms of exposing Armenian chauvinism and terrorism to the world, protecting the national memory of the future generations of our people, and perpetuating the memory of the victims of the genocide.”

The member of the Milli Majlis said that all the crimes committed by Armenians against our people during the 44-day Patriotic War, which ended with the brilliant victory of Azerbaijan, were deservedly answered.

After that, the chairman of the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of State Administrations and Public Service Workers of Azerbaijan Hikmat Osmanov, the deputy chairman of the Republican Committee of the Free Trade Union of Education Workers Mirza Jafarzade, the deputy chairman of the Republican Committee of the Health Workers Trade Union Javid Mammadov and the Republican Committee of the Trade Union of Oil and Gas Industry Workers spoke. representative Mahir Ashurov spoke about the history and goals of the transfer of Armenians to the territory of Azerbaijan, the bitter consequences of this policy, the March 1918 genocide, as well as the 44-day Patriotic War, the power of the Azerbaijani Army, and the leadership skills of the Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
