The XV Congress of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Georgia is being held. Chairman of Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation, member of the Milli Mejlis Sattar Mohbaliyev is participating in the Congress in Tbilisi.

On the first day of the Congress, the chairman of ATUC also participated in the conference “Trade unions promoting peace and sustainable development for the sake of democracy and decent work”, organized with the participation of invited guests from abroad.

Later, S. Mohbaliyev spoke at the Congress. He spoke about the existing relations between the trade unions of Azerbaijan and Georgia, the importance of organized mutual visits, the exchange of experience, its effective results, and the work done within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the two institutions.

Considering the topic of the conference as relevant, the chairman of ATUC said that it is important for the whole world: “Democracy is a constantly developing process, and each new generation should strive to further develop and enrich its values and principles, including the rule of law and human rights. The principles enunciated in the Founding Declaration of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) encourage us to promote democratic rights and freedoms everywhere. A prosperous life depends on democracy, decent work and freedom from weapons of mass destruction. Peace and democratic rights are crucial to realizing the Sustainable Development Goals. We can say with certainty that trade unions around the world are among the leading organizations in the struggle for peace, democratic rights and freedoms.

“The main burden in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals is on the state. Trade unions, as a public organization, should help the state achieve its goals, and of course, they actively support this process. “The Confederation of Azerbaijan Trade Unions consults with member organizations and holds numerous seminars in the regions on the role of the SDG in the development of the country,” said S. Mohbaliyev.

The chairman of ATUC also considered it important to increase the quality and productivity of labor, which affects the standard of living and wages in the world, to improve working conditions, and to create equal opportunities for women and men in working conditions. He emphasized that providing all able-bodied people with a decent job with a normal income, which ensures safety at the workplace, strengthens the social protection of families, and allows them to be formed as personalities and integrate into society, is one of the most urgent issues of our day.
