The subregional seminar “Activity of trade unions for sustainable development” held in Baku has ended

The sub- regional seminar “Activity of trade unions for sustainable development” has ended in Baku, jointly organized by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Turin International Training Center.

The seminar was attended by Ilyas Aliyev , First Deputy Chairman  of ATUC, Hasan Jafarov , Secretary of ATUC- Chief of Staff, Sergey Glovaskas , Sector Manager of ILO Eastern Europe and Central Asia Office , Evelin Tot , Activity Manager of Turin International Education Center for Europe and Arab States, ILO- Gocha Alexandria, the Chief Specialist of the Moscow Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, as well as representatives of the trade unions of Azerbaijan, Moldova, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan participated.

At the seminar,the essence of the Sustainable Development Goals, the latest situation related to the SDGs in the world, the interaction of the trade union movement with the UN on the SDGs, the experience of Azerbaijan, Moldova, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, achievements in the implementation of the 8 SDGs on decent work and economic growth , cross-country exchange of experience, ways to improve social protection systems using the SDG, the role of trade unions in promoting a just transition to ecologically sustainable economies and societies, and other necessary issues were discussed. The participants were also informed about the duties, goals and objectives of trade unions in this direction.

At the seminar, interesting questions related to the topic were widely discussed, the opinions and suggestions of the participants were studied, and opinions were exchanged.
