The memory of Rashad Shafiyev, an active military serviceman of the Civil Defense Forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), who was martyred while performing his duties during the Patriotic War, was commemorated.
AZERTAC’s regional correspondent reports that Mehman Ismayilov, chairman of the Trade Union of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, employees of the Civil Defense Forces and family members of the martyr first visited the Ganja Martyrs’ Alley monument and then laid flowers in front of the martyr Rashad Shafiyev’s grave.
Speaking, M. Ismayilov said that the forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations showed perseverance during the war, and showed bravery in fire protection and rescue operations of residential areas that were hit by heavy artillery and rocket fire from the enemy. He noted that on July 4, 2019, Rashad Shafiyev, who started working in the Civil Defense Forces of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an overtime military serviceman, was able to gain the respect of the collective in a short time as a business-like, responsible, and patriotic serviceman.
It was brought to attention that Shafiyev Rashad Vagif was born on October 13, 1991 in Ganja city. In 1997, he entered the 1st grade of secondary school No. 8 named after M.P. Vagif, and in 2007 he graduated from the 9th grade of that school. In 2010, he was called up for military service from the Ganja City Nizami District Branch of the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription, and served in the “N” military unit of the Ministry of Defense.
From July 2019, he started serving in the military unit No. “N” of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. On October 4, 5, 8, 11 and 17, 2020, he actively participated in search and rescue operations during the rocket fire of Ganja by the Armenian armed forces. On October 27 of the same year, he participated in the search and rescue operations after Barda was hit by rocket fire. On October 28, the martyrdom reached its peak as a result of Barda being hit by rockets again. He was buried in Shahidlar Alley of Ganja city.
Shafiyev Rashad Vagif oglu was awarded the “For the Motherland” medal (posthumously) by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
After the memorial service, the family of the martyr was visited.
